Vermilion’s facility and campus appear to be appealing and clean. While they may seem like a good option after reviewing their website and seeing all they have to offer, some reviews online seem to suggest that the facility is not as great as it claims to be.

There are complaints about the facility being understaffed and the existing staff being uncompassionate towards patients dealing with mental illness. A few made it clear that they believed the staff was kind and understanding, and they enjoyed their stay at Vermilion and were ultimately happy that they were treated there. Taking everything into consideration, we would rate Vermilion Behavioral Healthy System a 4/10.

“The emotional intelligence scale of the employees here is bordering the negatives. A lot of them do NOT know how to talk to mental health patients. Some of the therapists are good, and a few of those that possess actual college credentials. I can’t reccomend this place in good conscious. If you have had a bad experience here, please call OSHA (Occupational Saftey and Health Administration).” ★

“I was 13 when I went into Vermilion, and I wish to remain anonymous. My parents took me, my father seemed angry because my brother had been there numerous times before me. I was scared because no matter how much he went, he never stayed better. He committed suicide and the day I was admitted was the day it marked a year of his death. The first few days seemed like torture, because I didn’t think there was anything wrong with me and I just wanted to go home, I would see kids get to leave, and I would envy them so much. Although, it got better. I ended up making alot of friend and we all still talk. We recount stories from the hospital and whenever I tell my friends about it, I always have a smile on my face. I’m so very glad I went, because I got to experience so many amazing things, and met so may new people!”  ★ ★ ★
