UnitedHealthcare Community Plan

UnitedHealthcare is one of the largest Medicaid providers in the nation, serving more than 50 million Americans and they offer a variety of great plans to their members.

In Louisiana, you can choose from 5 plans. 4 of them being dual health plans and one being Medicaid only.

Their plans are designed for:

  • Pregnant mothers and babies
  • Children under the age of 19
  • Adults and families facing financial hardship
  • People who need help when it comes to living independently
  • People living with disabilities and severe health conditions
  • Seniors who qualify for Medicare and Medicaid

Some of the benefits for their dual health plans (Medicare + Medicaid) include:

  • Vision care
  • Dental care
  • Certain prescription drugs
  • Transportation assistance
  • OTC products- including debit and food allowances

Dual health plans are only for members who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid. The main difference is that Medicaid is managed by the state and based on income when it comes to eligibility. Medicare is managed by the federal government and eligibility is primarily based on age. However, certain disabilities could potentially make a younger person eligible for Medicare.
