Acadiana Recovery Center operates 24 hours per day, seven days a week, and is a part of the Woodlake Addiction Recovery Center. This is a family of drug rehab centers based in Louisiana that are all designed to meet anyone’s specific requirements, needs, and lifestyle.

This center believes that everyone has a right to behavioral health and well-being. They value their patients, always treating them with respect, dignity, understanding, and fairness. They offer hope to individuals, families, and even communities who are trying to recover from alcohol and other substance abuse problems, along with mental health issues.

Residential and inpatient alcohol and drug dependency and mental health treatment programs are offered to all adults. Acadiana Recovery Center also provides a six-month halfway house and outpatient substance abuse treatment and aftercare.

Aside from offering its services to adults, they also provide outpatient mental health and drug dependency treatment for children and adolescents through their Milestones and Functional Family therapeutic programs.

With effective treatment, and the right resources and support, anyone can achieve their goals of recovering from substance abuse and mental illness.

Acadiana Recovery Center Facility

Acadiana Recovery Center is located at 401 West Vermillion Street, Lafayette, LA 70501. They are a licensed and accredited residential and outpatient treatment program that opened in March of 1999. Their goal was to offer addiction treatment to those who had little or no resources.

They understand how important it is to tour the facilities grounds ahead of time; you are more than welcome to call them at 337-524-1415 and set up a time to come view their facility, rooms, and all of their amenities.

What to Expect

Inside, the bedrooms sleep two and feature twin-sized beds. Up to six people share the bathrooms. Outside, a deck in the back allows for socializing and chit-chat, along with getting some fresh air in the southern sunshine.

A patient typically starts their day at 6:00 am; this is when they will take their showers and straighten up their rooms. At 8:00 am, patients can eat breakfast, followed by reading 12-step literature or taking time to meditate. Staff will help patients compose a to-do list during post-breakfast activities. Lunch is always served at noon, and resident patients will sit down for dinner at 5:00 pm.

After dinner, patients are usually given free-time unless there is a 12-step meeting scheduled for that day. Light out at 10:30 pm on weekdays, while they receive an extra hour on Fridays and Saturdays to stay up. It’s important to note that cell phones, computers, and music are not permitted. House phones are available for three 15-minute phone calls each week.

Tuesday-Thursday between 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm Acadiana opens their doors to resident patients’ family members. Sundays are days for visitation; however, all visitors must attend an educational presentation about addiction beforehand. Once that is complete, visitors can visit with patients from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Extras

Exercise is available to resident patients three days per week. They will be allowed to be transported to a local recreation center. Although, this off-site privilege must be earned. Here they will have access to a private pool, basketball, and volleyball courts.

Two recreational rooms are available, one is for males, and the other is for female residents. Both rooms come equipped with large televisions and include a Wii console for extra entertainment.

While their 30-day resident patients are limited to the community rec center, those who remain for their extended program are treated to outings—such as bowling, going to the movies, eating out at certain restaurants, and fishing at their secondary sites pond.

Grief and Loss Counseling

Their grief and loss programs are designed to help patients work through personal losses such as divorce, loss of children, death, abuse, and other grief-related issues.

Grief counseling is commonly suggested for individuals who experience extreme difficulties dealing or coping with a significant loss. It facilitates the expression of emotions and confronting the idea about the loss, including feeling sad, angry, guilty, anxious, lonely, isolated, numb, or confused.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)

This program is designed for patients who struggle with addiction to alcohol. AA program participants follow a set of recovery steps to achieve and maintain being abstinent from alcohol use. This open-ended program focuses on self-help, and educates alcohol users regarding understanding and recognizing their negative behavior patterns, and helps them take personal responsibility for their actions.

Recovery Dynamics

This curriculum teaches the 12-step recovery program in a comprehensive, easy-to-follow way. They also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to help patients achieve a change in their attitude and behavior. In the United States, this is considered to be one of the most effective and successful programs. Tens of thousands of people have been able to free themselves from substance abuse and addiction with Recovery Dynamics.

Living in Balance

This approach to treatment is research-based, practical, flexible, and user-friendly and helps patients address issues in areas of their life that may have been neglected during their addiction. Living in Balance is designed to utilize sessions to integrate the patients’ physical, mental, and emotional health into their treatment and brings their life into balance as a whole.

Other Important Information

Medically Supervised Detox

In addition to these various treatment programs, they can also recommend facilities to help with medically supervised detox. They do not offer on-site detoxification.

Patients who could experience seizures or hallucinations from alcohol withdrawal may need medical supervision to detox safely. Detoxification could take anywhere between several days to a week or more. During this process, a patient will receive medical care, medication, and education about their disease.

If this is necessary to your treatment, you will be recommended to a facility that can supervise you while you detox. After completing your detoxification, you can then be admitted into their inpatient treatment program.

Medically supervised detox is not required for everyone. Patients with mild or minor withdrawal symptoms from using drugs like marijuana, methamphetamine, or cocaine do not typically need hospitalization or supervision when it comes to detoxifying. However, outpatient medical care and a good support system, including having someone to ensure their well-being, is highly recommended.

Referrals and Admission

Referral for admission into Acadiana Recovery Centers transitional living residential program is normally obtained through your healthcare provider, a hospital, or another substance abuse clinic.

Their admission clerk will need to be contacted by the referring agency, and once screening has been completed, and the person is deemed eligible, a date for admission will then be scheduled.

Priority Admission Info

Priority admissions into their programs are given to the homeless, persons with HIV/AIDS, IV drug users, women with dependents, and pregnant women.

They note that no one will be denied services from this facility due to the inability to afford or pay for it. To learn more about where you would fall on their sliding fee scale, you would have to give them a call and speak to someone over the phone about your current financial situation and needs.

They bill their patients through Medicare, Medicaid, or private payment. The cost for outpatient treatment is an initial $50 fee and an additional drug screening fee that costs $10 per week. Aftercare is offered to graduates of their program.

Acadiana Recovery Center Reviews

This treatment center seems to offer something for everyone’s lifestyle and specific recovery needs. They also appear to be dedicated to helping people overcome their addiction, and will work with you financially.

Patients who are doing well and showing promise in their treatment journey are offered fun recreational activities to participate in, they have a structured routine and schedule for residents, and they have a highly skilled staff available for optimal patient care.

Judging by some of the reviews from various websites, not everyone has had an incredibly positive experience with Acadiana, which is understandable, but we couldn’t find anything too negative about their treatment center and services either. We would rate Acadiana Recovery Center an 8/10.
